SUMMARY:Biosketch 101: Getting (Grant Reviewers) to Know You
DESCRIPTION:The biographical sketch (or “biosketch”) is where you get to show grant reviewers what you—as PI or other key personnel—will bring to a proposed project. In this session\, we will discuss how to make your experience and expertise shine through in the Personal Statement and Contributions to Science sections of the biosketch. We will also review the NIH biosketch format so that you can make sure yours complies with the latest NIH policy. After the presentation\, attendees will have an opportunity to get feedback on narrative portions of their biosketch from the speakers during a virtual office hours session. \nRegister

SUMMARY:Leadership Development Series: Creating High Performing Teams
DESCRIPTION:Whether in the operating room\, the clinic or the lab\, the best results come when we are able to work collaboratively. Despite best intentions\, making this happen can sometimes be challenging. In this workshop\, part of our four-part leadership development series for all School of Medicine faculty\, we will focus on a framework for leading and engaging teams in more effective ways. Leveraging off of your own current examples\, you will have the opportunity to apply this framework\, and associated skills\, to your own situations and develop a strategy for taking action. Specific items that will be addressed include: \n\nShifting from an individual expert mindset to a team oriented\, collaborative mindset\nStrategies to create psychological safety for your team\nCreating an environment where we can learn from mistakes and failures\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nOffice of Faculty Affairs (OFA) events for July 2022-June 2023 are not CME accredited at this time but are offered through the CME platform for continuity with other professional development opportunities. \nTo register\, you will be prompted to create an account in the CME platform if you don’t already have one. This year’s Faculty Affairs events are not CME accredited\, but your registration will ensure you receive emails\, calendar\, and Zoom information about each event. Please note due to recent Google changes\, emails from the CME system may go to spam folders for Gmail accounts so if possible\, please use a UW email address when creating your account.
