DESCRIPTION:Register\n\n\n\n\nAn Introduction to the H.E.A.R.T. of Listening: Shifting from Hearing to Listening as a Leader\nLori Joubert and Pending Faculty Presenter\n\nOverview\nThe UW SoM Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) Committee hosts 6 annual workshops on Women Faculty Leadership as well as Reproductive Healthcare & Family Support. These workshops aim to create a community for women faculty throughout the SoM\, build leadership skills\, and provide a space for women faculty explore topics that impact their careers in academic medicine. Additionally\, the WIMS committee hosts an annual Women Faculty Day. This is an all-day event\, the theme changes each year but every Women Faculty Day features a keynote speaker\, networking opportunities\, and talks specific to women faculty in academic medicine.

SUMMARY:Leadership Series: Strategies for Effective Communication
DESCRIPTION:Register\n\n\n\n\n\nOverview\nEffective communication is an essential skill for all of us. In this interactive workshop learn the different types of communication\, practice approaching a difficult discussion with a case study\, and recognize biases and patterns in human behavior that may impact communication success. Best practices will be shared for various modes of communication as well as how to communicate across roles in a team. \nThis session is led by Drs. Anne Browning (Chief Well-Being Officer) and Giana Davidson (Assistant Dean for Professional Development). \nThe University of Washington School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. \nThe University of Washington School of Medicine designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 2.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
