SUMMARY:Leadership Development Series: Strategies for Effective Communication
DESCRIPTION:This session in our faculty leadership development series will focus on strategies to enhance effective communication in a variety of different venues. Whether it is being a member of a team\, giving performance related feedback\, or simply sharing your observations and concerns with a colleague or patient\, learning (or reinforcing) the tools for having these challenging conversations is useful for all of us. Attending this session will allow you to gain additional skill and confidence in having difficult conversations by: \n\nUnderstanding the role of fundamental attribution error\nLearning a set of core dialogue skills\nCreating a plan to apply these skills to specific challenges\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\nOffice of Faculty Affairs (OFA) events for July 2022-June 2023 are not CME accredited at this time but are offered through the CME platform for continuity with other professional development opportunities. \nTo register\, you will be prompted to create an account in the CME platform if you don’t already have one. This year’s Faculty Affairs events are not CME accredited\, but your registration will ensure you receive emails\, calendar\, and Zoom information about each event. Please note due to recent Google changes\, emails from the CME system may go to spam folders for Gmail accounts so if possible\, please use a UW email address when creating your account.

SUMMARY:CLIME Clinical Teaching Certificate: Assessment
DESCRIPTION:If you would like to complete the the series to earn the certificate please sign up here: https://uwsom.sjc1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bde8xR7ZOgAnYb4. \nIf you would like to just attend this one workshop in the series continue by clicking the register button. \nDescription: Clinical teachers must assess the skills and competencies of their learners. This session will focus on reliably and accurately assessing learners in the clinical setting – the session directly links with the prior session on formative feedback\, as much of this assessment information can be provided directly back to learners as feedback. Clinical teachers are also often required to create written assessments to help course directors to evaluate learners and provide a grade. This is a challenging task and is highly susceptible to bias – this session will provide best practices in mitigating bias in assessment. \n\n\n\nRegister
