Committee for Minority Faculty Advancement (CMFA)

The purpose of CMFA is to address the professional developmental need of faculty from underrepresented groups in medicine and biomedical sciences (URMGMBS) by facilitating the dissemination of knowledge, skills and resources necessary to achieve successful careers in academic medicine. In addition, this committee will assist the School of Medicine in highlighting the unique needs of URM faculty to aid in the recruitment and retention of URMGMBS faculty, which will increase the diversity of the medical school faculty body. CMFA collaborates with OHCE to achieve its mission.

Meetings and Involvement

CMFA hosts a monthly 60 minute meeting for all members. The CMFA leadership of the Executive Committee meetings for an additional 60 minutes each month.

Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS)

The mission of this committee is to foster career development and wellness as well as address gender inequities in hiring, compensation, and advancement among women faculty members for the benefit of all members of the School of Medicine.

Meetings and Involvement

WIMS hosts a monthly 60 minute committee meeting. Members often do additional WIMS subcommittee work for approximately 1-2 hours per month.

Length of Service: 1 year term of service, limited to 3 non-consecutive years for non-leadership members.
